At Neitra we're harnessing the power of Mother Nature to create "Food For Your Skin" and essential oils are a big part of that. In fact, you'll never find a synthetic "fragrance" in any of our products...only 100% pure essential oils.
Here is a closer look at the properties we chose for our Deodorant blends. We've included what plants they come from and what properties these potent oils can have on your body, mind and spirit.
You'll see there's more at work here than meets the nose!
Benzoin (Stryrax benzoin): Made from the resin of trees found mainly in South East Asia, Benzoin has a scent similar to Vanilla. Benzoin is also a known for it's deodorizing qualities, making it a perfect essential oil for our Deos!
**Positive Attributes of Benzoin - Relaxing, Uplifting, Calming, Restorative - it also helps to improve circulation.
Bergamot (Citrus bergamia): Coming from the Citrus family, Bergamot has a Joyous, Uplifting and Refreshing scent. (Side note: Bergamot is also the special ingredient that makes Earl Grey tea taste so distinctly Earl Grey!)
**Positive Attributes of Bergamot - Confidence, Balance, Concentration, Strength, Motivation, Harmony.
Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea): Distilled from the flowers of an amazing herb, Clary Sage has Restorative, Harmonizing and Euphoric properties.
**Positive Attributes of Clary Sage - Calming, Grounding, Inspired, Tranquil, Uplifted, Soothing, and Restored Equlibrium.
Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens): Distilled from the leaves and cones of the Cypress tree, this essential oil's character is one of Protectiveness, Wisdom and Direction. It is also effective for people who sweat a lot. Side note: sempervirens actually translates to "ever-living"
**Positive Attributes of Cypress - Strength, Balance, Confidence, Patience, Straightforward, Understanding.
Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens): Distilled from the flowers of this plant, the essential oil is known to be Balancing, Uplifting and Comforting. Geranium has incredible deodorizing properties
**Positive Attributes of Geranium - Regenerating, Stimulant, Balancing, Soothing, Tranquility.
Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia): Distilled from the flowers, Lavender is one of the most widely used essential oils. It has deoderant properties and supports Harmony, Balance, Cleansing and of course is very Calming.
**Positive Attributes of Lavender: Gentle, Balanced, Inner Peace, Meditative, Relaxed and Alert.
Lemon (Citrus limomum): A fruit with a variety of culinary uses, this essential oil is known to be Purifying, Stimulating and Versatile.
**Positive Attributes of Lemon - Awareness, Direction, Concentration, Lively, Emotional Clarity and Invigoration.
Lime (Citrus aurantifolia): Extracted by cold-compressing the rinds of the fruit, this essential oil has a fresh and uplifting scent. An essential oil with anti-oxidant properties and it's anti-septic as well.
**Positive Attributes of Lime - Confidence, Balance, Concentration, Strength, Motivation, Harmony
Orange (Citrus sinensis): Continuing with the powerful Citrus family, and again expressed from the rind of the fruit, Orange essential oil is known for being Warming, Energizing, Happy and Resolute.
**Positive Attributes of Orange - Uplifting, Sunny, Light-hearted, Regenerated, Creative and Self-Confident.
Peppermint (Mentha piperita): An incredibly versatile and potent herb, the essential oil of Peppermint is extracted from the leaves of the plant. It is known as Clarifying, Stimulating and Awakening.
**Positive Attributes of Peppermint - Regenerating, Vibrancy, Self-Acceptance, Concentration and Vitality.
Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium): While coming from the Citrus family, this essential oil is distilled from the leaves and wood and has properties that are Revitalizing, Balancing and Clarifying.
**Positive Attributes of Petitgran - Joyful, Relaxed, Self-confidence, Optimism, Expressiveness and Inner Vision.
Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia): Distilled from the leaves and branches of a tree most widely grown in Australia, this essential oil is known all over the world for it's anti-septic and cleansing properties - not to mention it's fresh, distinct smell. As you might expect, it's got wonderful deodorizing properties too!
**Positive Attributes of Tea Tree - Anti-Viral, Anti-Fungal, Anti-Inflammatory.
Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides): Distilled from the roots of this plant, it's essential oil is described as Grounding, Centering and Visionary.
**Positive Attributes of Vetivert - Growth, Integrity, Wisdom, Honourable, Grounded, Strength and Spiritual Calmness.
